VA Disability Compensation
Thank you for visiting my lens. Please take a moment to rate it by using the star-system above when you are done. Thank you!   This lens was created to help Veterans understand VA Disability Compensation.  It is dedicated to those who served and continue to serve. When I was 18, in the Army, and declared "disabled" and retired after a motorcycle accident that happened while on-duty, I was counseled by a women at the Army Hospital who helped me understand the value of VA benefits and the importance of fighting hard for them.  As an 18 year old, the dollar signs that gleamed in my eyes seemed to be calling me versus a long-term benefit.  The lady that counseled me helped me understand that benefits last a lifetime and that settling with the Army was a bad idea.  She was right. This lens will explore VA Disability compensation.  Please rate this lens, thanks! Physical Comfort for Pain Management

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) - Resources for Living with MS and Staying Well
Welcome to my lens and personal journey on Multiple Sclerosis! This Squidoo lens has grown over the years and you will find plenty of information for your personal consumption. Because there is so much, I hope you will consider bookmarking this lens and coming back several times. Take your time to digest the information and learn more about MS. Most of all, best wishes as you seek knowledge and make your journey. -Diana "gkygrl" I was a young 18 year old soldier in the US Army in 1983 when I can recall my first symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis (MS).  What began to grip me were nebulous symptoms such as extreme fatigue, muscle spasms and vertigo.  With no rhyme or reason, symptoms seemed to come and go.  Nearly 20 years later in 2002, my neurologist and I would chase down a myriad of symptoms such as loss of vision, carpal-tunnel-like syndrome and frequent urinary tract infections to arrive upon a diagnosis of MS.    The journey was long and frustrating, but like many MS’ers I felt a huge sense of relief to finally have a name to the MonSter that was invading my body and mind. For many MS’ers the road to diagnosis is long and arduous.  An MS’er may feel or be told that they are going crazy or that it is “all in their head”.   It takes a special kind of doctor and a special kind of knowledge to put the pieces of the MS puzzle together and solve it.   I have had the blessing of having had a patient and persevering neurologist who has been able to work with me through all the uncertainty. Currently I am retired from an IT job with a large research and development company.   I had the fortune of signing up for and paying into Long-Term Disability Insurance (LTDI) while employed and never imagined in my lifetime that I would need to avail of it.  I also have the grace of being a US Veteran and in 2005, the Department of Veterans Affairs ruled that my diagnosis of MS was “service-connected”.   I am currently rated as permanent and total at 100%.  It seems that this disease called multiple sclerosis loves to seek out those of us who are type "A " and try to take a hold.  I have not let MS take it's hold and continue to fight with that same heart that took me through military police school and kept me moving forward in the Army, the convent as a nun, through graduate school and throughout life.  I will not sit down without ...

Saint Therese of Lisieux - The Little Flower
This lens is about MARIE FRANCOISE-THERESE MARTIN, daughter of Louis-Joseph-Stanislaus and Zelie (Guerin) Martin, was born in Alencon, France, January 2, 1873. She was the youngest of nine children, four of whom died in infancy, and of the five others, four became Carmelite nuns. Therese, was a singularly charming and precocious child that set her heart upon entering the convent at the age of fifteen. Her wish was granted nearly to the letter, for on April 9, 1888, when only at fifteen, she enterered the Carmelite monastery of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and of the Immaculate Conception, at Lisieux, France. There she lived for nine years a life of remarkably joyous and childlike — or angelic — holiness; and there September 30, 1897, she died of consumption (tuberculosis). P.S - if you could kindly rate my lens, it would be very much appreciated. :-)
